Carrick to Stay as Man Utd Boss for Chelsea Game

Michael Carrick will still be in charge of Manchester United for their Premier League match against Chelsea this weekend. This news came from media reports on Tuesday.

Carrick's position at Old Trafford has faced a lot of rumors after the team went eight matches without a win. Last Sunday, they lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth, leaving them just one point above the relegation zone.

But reports from the BBC, Sky Sports, and the Press Association say that the former United and England midfielder will lead the team to Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Carrick arrived at the Carrington training ground on Tuesday to oversee a regular training session.

The BBC mentioned that sources said the 45-year-old will be given a chance by the club's management to improve the situation. Carrick signed a two-year contract in May after successfully stepping in as caretaker boss when United struggled under Ruben Amorim.

During his time as caretaker, the club managed to recover and finish third in the Premier League, which allowed them to return to the Champions League. But this season, United have only won two out of 12 matches in all competitions. They have just seven points from eight league games, marking their worst start in 40 years.

After the loss to Bournemouth, Carrick did not directly answer questions about his future. He did acknowledge the crowd's support at full-time as fans chanted his name, showing they still believe in him. However, they expressed their frustration towards the players and the club's management.

Wayne Rooney, a United legend who played alongside Carrick, criticized the players after their poor performances. He said, "The players haven’t got a leg to stand on. What’s not fair is the performances they are giving." Rooney added, "I looked at the fans; you could see the pain and anger in their faces when those players are walking around the football pitch."
