The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has asked the Federal Government to give equal support to victims of recent kidnappings in Oyo and Borno states.

The group condemned the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in both states. They said these events show the security problems in parts of Nigeria and called on leaders to do more to protect citizens.

In a statement from its National Coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the coalition raised concerns about the difference in attention given to the two incidents.

The group noted that on May 15, 2026, about 46 schoolchildren and teachers were taken from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The coalition also mentioned the kidnapping of 42 pupils from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State on the same day.

Charanchi stated that all victims of insecurity, no matter where they are from, should get equal help from the authorities.

"The Coalition wishes to make it clear that we condemn every act of terrorism, kidnapping and violence anywhere in Nigeria. We are not calling for less attention to Oyo State. Rather, we are advocating equal concern, empathy and support for all victims across the federation," he said.

The coalition believes that every Nigerian life matters. They think all affected communities should receive protection and help.

They called on the Federal Government to work harder to rescue victims in both Oyo and Borno states. They also want a better security plan to tackle terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes across the country.

The group wants schools and rural areas to be better protected. They also called for improved intelligence gathering and ongoing efforts to break down criminal groups in Nigeria.

The coalition said that giving proper support to all affected communities would help build public trust and national unity.

They urged authorities to keep working on improving security in the country and to ensure justice for victims of crime.
