Como Stuns Napoli in Allegri's First Home Match with 2-1 Victory

Como pulled off a big upset on Sunday, winning 2-1 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. This victory spoiled Napoli head coach Massimiliano Allegri’s first home game.

Martin Baturina put Cesc Fabregas’s team ahead in the 17th minute. It was a deserved lead as both teams created chances in the hot weather in Naples.

Rasmus Hojlund equalized for Napoli with a great strike in the 30th minute. But soon after, a defensive error allowed Anastasios Douvikas to score again. This was Douvikas's second goal in as many games.

Kevin De Bruyne, who helped Napoli win their opening match against Genoa with a goal and an assist, could not change the game after he came on in the second half.

Como defended well under late pressure. A goal from Stanislav Lobotka in stoppage time was ruled offside, which kept the scoreline at 2-1.

“It is a very valuable win. The first half was very good, and in the second, we understood we were facing champions, and we held out,” Fabregas told DAZN.

Last season, Fabregas’s team surprised everyone by qualifying for the Champions League for the first time. They faced tough teams like Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Manchester United.

Fabregas also shared that he wants more new players before the transfer window closes on September 1. He needs fresh legs to handle a busy schedule.

“Obviously, I’m expecting a striker. Douvikas can’t play both the league and the cups. We suffered a lot with (Alvaro) Morata last year; he was out injured for months.

“Playing every three days at this level isn’t easy,” Fabregas said.

Como, who drew their opening match against Udinese, now has four points in the Serie A table. They are two points behind leaders AC Milan and Juventus. Meanwhile, Napoli, last season's runners-up, stayed on three points.
