Nigerian artist, Oladapo Oyebanji, better known as D’banj, has teamed up with international music company, Cinq Music Group. They plan to make selected international songs available to Nigerian music lovers through USSD.

This service will let fans buy full-track downloads and caller ring-back tones at prices that fit the Nigerian market.

The first song available is American rapper T.I.’s hit, Live Your Life, featuring Barbadian singer Rihanna.

D’banj's entertainment platform, C.R.E.A.M., shared this news with PUNCH Online on Friday. The partnership aims to make well-known international music easier to access using local payment methods.

The platform mentioned that this move would bring international songs into its existing setup for finding talent, sharing content, making money, engaging fans, and offering rewards and games.

They called this partnership a big step in making international music available through a Nigerian platform. Fans can pay using methods designed for Nigeria.

“The partnership will enable Nigerian fans to purchase selected international recordings through USSD, with options including full-track downloads and caller ring-back tones at prices tailored to the Nigerian market,” the statement said.

The statement also noted that this model will help rights holders get clearer records of local consumer demand. When purchases are made, transaction receipts are created to track how well the songs are doing.

Talking about the partnership, D’banj said it would create value for music rights holders in Nigeria.

“When the receipt is generated here, the asset gets value here. A stream is a data point. A sale is a receipt. C.R.E.A.M. is owned here, priced here and pays here,” he said.

He also mentioned that the platform aims to strengthen the bond between musicians and their fans.

“Our mission is to create direct access between artists and fans, with super fan engagement like never before,” the statement quoted him.

The company explained that this initiative is part of its direct-to-fan model. This model connects artists with their audiences through music discovery, sharing, making money, fan participation, and rewards.

They added that the partnership with Cinq Music would increase the number of international songs available to Nigerian fans while keeping the focus on direct engagement between artists and fans.

C.R.E.A.M. also stated its plans to use the Nigerian launch as a stepping stone to expand into other African markets. This will depend on rights agreements, commercial deals, and local infrastructure.

More details about the songs and other regions will be shared once the necessary arrangements are confirmed.
