D’Tigress bounced back from two straight losses to China by winning 88-77 in their third and final game in Foshan, Guangdong Province, on Wednesday. This win is part of their preparation for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The reigning African champions took charge right from the start. They led 32-17 after the first quarter and increased their lead to 58-29 by halftime.
China tried to come back in the third quarter, but Nigeria stayed in control. They ended the third quarter ahead with a score of 71-52.
In the fourth quarter, the hosts improved their game, but D’Tigress held firm to finish with an 88-77 win. This victory also made up for Nigeria’s earlier 69-65 loss to China on Sunday and the 70-67 defeat in their first meeting last Friday.
D’Tigress are still preparing for the FIBA Women’s World Cup. They plan to move into the third phase of their training in Tenerife, Spain, from August 15 to 24.
During this phase, they will play against Spain and Belgium. After that, they will go to Zaragoza for the fourth phase from August 25 to September 3. There, they will have final games against Mali and Puerto Rico.
Nigeria started their World Cup preparations in the United States from July 29 to August 2.
The seven-time African champions will then travel to Berlin, Germany, for the FIBA Women’s World Cup from September 4 to 13. They are in Group B with the Republic of Korea, Hungary, and France.
