Dolphins Start Title Defence Against First Deep Water

Dolphins Women Basketball Club will kick off their NBBF/Zenith Bank Women Basketball Premier League title defence against First Deep Water at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, on Sunday. This is according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The current champions won their second title last year after beating First Bank 61-55 in the playoff final. They waited 10 years for their second win. Now they want to make sure they do not wait long for a third title as they face one of the oldest teams in the league.

In the first phase of the Atlantic Conference, the opening match will feature IGP Queens against newcomers Victoria Queens. Last year's runners-up, First Bank, who have won the league the most times, will go up against Royal Aces.

Also, two-time champions MFM will meet Bayelsa Blue Whales in the afternoon.

Savannah Conference Begins

The Savannah Conference will start two days later on Tuesday, August 18. Air Warriors will take on Kada Angels in the opening game of the day.

Other matches on the first day of the Savannah Conference include Nasarawa Amazons versus Ham Warriors and Titans against Nigeria Customs. The day's matches will end with Aso Sky Queens facing Plateau Rocks.

The Atlantic Conference will run until August 22. The Savannah Conference, taking place at the Basketball Arena, Rayfield, Jos, will finish its first phase on Monday, August 24.
