England is facing a setback as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Some training equipment meant for their camp in Kansas City was stolen before the team arrived.
Reports, including one from the BBC, say that vehicles carrying the equipment to England's training site at Swope Soccer Village were broken into on Friday night. This has led to an investigation by local police and the Football Association (FA).
Authorities are still looking into how much equipment was taken. Items like training balls and football boots are among the missing gear.
England manager Thomas Tuchel and his team were set to land in Kansas City on Saturday afternoon. They expected the equipment to be ready when they got there.
Kansas City police confirmed that they are investigating the theft. Officers responded after discovering that items were missing from a team vehicle.
"We are investigating a possible theft of equipment from a team vehicle that arrived in Kansas City with items missing this evening. The investigation is ongoing," a police spokesperson said.
The FA is looking into the matter while working with local authorities. Reports suggest that two people have already been arrested in connection with the theft.
