The Enugu State Forest Guard has released a new Order that sets clear rules about the dress code, conduct, and overall appearance of all officers and operatives.
The new policy is called Headquarters Standing Operational Order No. 178/2026. It was announced by Akinbayo Olasoji, the Commander of the Enugu State Forest Guard, in Enugu.
He said the changes reflect the vision of the Enugu State Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. The goal is to create a disciplined, smart, and professional security team that can protect lives, property, forests, and important assets across the state.
In a statement from Geraldine Chiagozie, an Assistant Superintendent of Forest Guard, Mr Olasoji explained that this Order is part of ongoing reforms. These reforms aim to strengthen discipline, improve command and control, boost professionalism, and create a unique identity for the Corps.
"As the Forest Guard becomes more visible through field operations, community work, and media platforms, it is important to set uniform standards that show the discipline and values of a modern security organization.
The Standing Operational Order specifies the approved uniforms and when to wear them, operational dress for fieldwork, and standards for equipment like lanyards, rank insignia, and shoes. It also outlines special dress codes for Administrative Officers and the Provost Unit to ensure everyone looks professional and can be easily identified.
"The Order bans unauthorized uniforms, civilian clothes (mufti) without permission, and improvised wooden weapons during official duties. It states that only approved uniforms and equipment should be used by personnel on duty.
"To make sure everyone follows these rules, Directors, Commanders, and Unit Heads have been told to regularly check uniforms before work, patrols, and other official duties. The Provost Unit will monitor compliance and enforce the rules across all Commands and Units, according to the statement.
The Commander of the Forest Guard also shared more about why this is important.
"Discipline starts with how we present ourselves. A professional security organization should be easily recognized by its smart uniforms and discipline. This Standing Operational Order is not just about clothing; it’s about improving our culture, promoting accountability, and ensuring every officer shows the Government of Enugu State with pride and professionalism," Mr Olasoji said.
He emphasized the Enugu State Forest Guard’s dedication to ongoing improvement, operational success, and working with communities and other security agencies to maintain peace and safety in Enugu State.
The Headquarters Standing Operational Order takes effect right away, and all Commands and Units must follow its rules immediately.
