The 2025/26 Premier League season has come to an end, but English football is diving straight into a busy off-season. There is a FIFA World Cup, transfer activities, fixture announcements, and European competitions all packed into a hectic summer schedule.

An update from the EPL website, shared by our correspondent on Wednesday, highlighted this.

The journey to the 2026/27 season will start in early June with the Premier League’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). Newly promoted Coventry City, Ipswich Town, and Hull City will officially join the league.

These three teams replace Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley, and West Ham United, who got relegated this season.

Next, all eyes will be on North America as the FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11 across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

This expanded 48-team tournament will run until July 19, with players from the Premier League representing their clubs in the competition.

Mexico will open the tournament against South Africa in Mexico City.

Even with the World Cup in full swing, Premier League clubs will not be sitting idle.

The summer transfer window opens on June 15, allowing clubs to officially sign new players as they prepare their teams for the new season.

Just four days later, fans will get their first look at the upcoming fixtures when the full 2026/27 Premier League fixture list is released on June 19.

All 380 matches will be available at 10:00 BST, giving clubs and fans time to plan for the season.

This release is particularly important for Coventry City, returning to the Premier League for the first time since the 2000/01 season after winning the Championship under Frank Lampard.

As the World Cup enters its final stages, players from the Premier League not participating will start returning to training in early July.

Pre-season training will ramp up later that month, with clubs going on tours and playing friendly matches around the world.

Manchester United will face Wrexham in Helsinki on July 18, while Liverpool will tour the United States. Chelsea is set to play Tottenham Hotspur in Australia.

The first trophy of the new domestic season will be contested on August 16 when Premier League champions Arsenal take on FA Cup winners Manchester City in the FA Community Shield.

Due to events at Wembley Stadium, this match will take place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

European matches will follow soon after.

Aston Villa has secured a spot in the UEFA Super Cup on August 12 and will face Paris Saint-Germain, the champions of the UEFA Champions League.

Brighton & Hove Albion will also kick off their UEFA Conference League adventure in the playoff round later in August.

The 2026/27 Premier League season will officially start on August 22, a week later than usual to accommodate the summer World Cup.

League officials mentioned that this schedule gives an 89-day break from the end of the previous season and 33 days from the World Cup final, allowing players extra recovery time.

The summer’s final big deadline arrives on September 1 when the transfer window closes at 23:00 BST.

By then, most clubs will have already played two league matches, wrapping up a fast-paced period that promises excitement on and off the pitch.

For Premier League clubs and fans, the message is clear: the season may be over, but football never really stops.
