FIFA said on Friday that they will announce the venue for the 2030 World Cup final “in due course.” This comes after the president of the Moroccan football federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, claimed that the final match would be held in Morocco.
Morocco, Spain, and Portugal are set to co-host the 2030 tournament. They have already started competing to host the final match. The leading options for the final are Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu and a new 115,000-seat stadium in Benslimane, near Casablanca.
Lekjaa stated on Wednesday that Morocco would be the host for the final. He said, “Benslimane province will host the World Cup final. Whether some people like it or not.” This statement was made during a public meeting in the region, as shown in a video shared by local media.
Despite Lekjaa’s comments, FIFA has confirmed that no decision has been made yet. A FIFA spokesperson told AFP on Friday, “As communicated on 5 August 2026, a decision will be made by FIFA in due course.”
