Italian team Fiorentina has made a new offer of €22m (£18.76m) for Tolu Arokodare, who plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers. They want to set up a season-long loan and have the option to buy him next summer.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Fiorentina aims to complete the loan deal before deciding on the buy option. It is not clear if the Serie A team will agree to a mandatory buy clause.
Wolves brought Arokodare from Belgian club Racing Genk for £24m in 2025. He signed a four-year deal after scoring 21 league goals. This earned him the Belgian Pro League Golden Boot and the Ebony Shoe, which is for the best African player in Belgium.
Arokodare's first season in England did not go well. He scored six goals and gave two assists in 38 matches in a season that ended with Wolves being relegated to the Championship. He scored three Premier League goals against Arsenal, Chelsea, and Brentford. He also found the net against Everton in the EFL Cup.
Sky Sports UK says Arokodare wants to move to one of Europe’s top five leagues: England, Spain, Italy, Germany, or France. He has turned down an offer from Turkish team Trabzonspor.
Negotiations between Fiorentina and Wolves have been tough. The first loan offer from Fiorentina was seen as not enough by Wolves.
Wolves' new head coach Cesar Peixoto is looking at his team ahead of their return to the Championship. Raul Jimenez is expected to compete with Adam Armstrong for the striker position, which puts Arokodare as third choice.
Arokodare is tied to Wolves until 2029, with an option for one more year. He has also played in the Bundesliga, appearing 10 times for Cologne in the 2020-21 season. Any team wanting to sign him must meet Wolves’ price before a deal can happen.
