Michael Olise scored and assisted as Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 to take the German Super Cup on Saturday.
The French player was Bayern’s top attacking threat. He created problems down the right side throughout the match after impressing for France at the World Cup.
Olise played a big part in Bayern’s first goal in the 28th minute. After he was fouled near the penalty area, the ball fell to Nathaniel Brown, who finished calmly to give Bayern the lead.
Bayern made it 2-0 just before half-time. Olise took advantage of a bad backpass from Jobe Bellingham. He sprinted past the Dortmund defence and stayed cool to score past the oncoming goalkeeper.
Dortmund came back stronger in the second half and put Bayern under pressure. But Vincent Kompany’s team defended well to keep their lead.
The hosts got one back with 15 minutes left. Former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Fabio Silva scored from a Daniel Svensson cross after good work from debutant Giannis Konstantelias.
Silva had another chance late in the match but headed straight at Manuel Neuer.
Dortmund went down to 10 men in the last minute. Ramy Bensebaini received a straight red card for a late tackle on Bayern debutant Ismael Saibari.
The hosts still had a chance to equalise in stoppage time. But Maximilian Beier could not beat Neuer after he found himself one-on-one with the Bayern goalkeeper.
This win gave Bayern their 12th German Super Cup title. It was also their second win in a row since the competition was renamed after club legend Franz Beckenbauer in 2025.
The result also marked a winning start to the new season for Bayern. They had to work hard against a Dortmund team starting a new campaign with a fresh squad.
