Nigeria’s U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, have touched down in Ivory Coast for the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship. They will start defending their title this weekend.
The team landed in Abidjan on Monday. After that, they traveled by road to Yamoussoukro, the city hosting the tournament. They are staying at the Trio Corridor Hotel.
The Flying Eagles will kick off their campaign against Ghana’s Black Satellites at the Lycée Scientifique on Monday.
This match is a repeat of the 2024 final held in Lomé, where Nigeria beat Ghana 2-1 to win the regional title.
Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s team will play Togo’s Sparrow Hawks on Thursday. They will finish their Group B matches against Burkina Faso’s Young Stallions on Sunday, August 2.
The Flying Eagles want to defend their WAFU B title while getting ready for other continental competitions.
