Former Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has given ₦2 million to the players of Nigeria’s U20 national team, the Flying Eagles. This support comes as the team prepares for the WAFU B U20 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire from July 26 to August 9.
Musa, who has the most caps for Nigeria with 111 appearances, scored four goals in two World Cup tournaments in 2014 and 2018. He handed over the cash gift to the team through their coordinator, Abubakar Abubakar.
Musa also urged the players to stay focused as they head into the tournament. The WAFU B Championship will decide which teams will represent the zone at next year’s Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
The 2013 AFCON winner, who also played for the Flying Eagles and won the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in South Africa in 2011, emphasized that a professional football career starts by making an impression at the U20 level. He believes this can shape how far a player can go in their career.
Flying Eagles captain Simon Habila thanked Musa for his generosity. He assured him that the team is working hard and believes they can make Nigerians proud.
