Gunmen Kill Three at Delta Festival

Three unidentified men were shot dead during a traditional festival in Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

PUNCH Metro learned on Wednesday that many others were injured in the attack that happened on Monday night.

A source said the shooting followed an attack on a member of a group in another part of the community. This incident reportedly led to a revenge attack at the festival.

“A member of a particular group was attacked somewhere else in the community. The attack led to a reprisal at the festival, where some youths were targeted.

“Three people were shot dead, while others were injured. Some of those injured were hacked with cutlasses,” the source said.

Cult Attack Suspected

An anti-cultism advocacy group, Naija Confra, called the incident a suspected cult attack in a post seen by PUNCH Metro.

The group identified two victims as Isaac, also known as Ziko, and another man called Baby Police, saying they were close friends.

“One was identified as Isaac, alias Ziko, while the second victim was identified as Baby Police. Both men were reportedly very close friends. At this time, Naija Confra has not identified the third victim, and we will not label him a cultist until there is sufficient evidence,” the platform stated.

Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comment. Calls to his phone went unanswered.

A text message sent to him had also not received a response as of the time of filing this report.
