Nollywood actor Kunle Afod has raised concerns about the lack of emergency responders at the site of an accident in Shapade, along the Ibadan, Shagamu Expressway in Ogun State.

In a video he posted on Instagram on Friday, Afod appealed to the Ogun State Government, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and other emergency services to urgently assist the victims. He noted that no ambulance had arrived even after 20 minutes of witnessing the accident.

“It’s a terrible accident we came across on the way along the Ibadan, Shagamu Expressway right now, and it’s so sad that for about 20 minutes that we’ve been here there has been no ambulance, no emergency services to come and help them,” he said.

Afod showed the accident scene in the video, pointing out that several people were lying helplessly. Efforts to reach emergency responders had failed to bring help.

“Nobody, we’ve been trying to call emergency workers to come and help them. See people lying down helplessly. You can see them, you can see the car behind me, the bus behind me now,” he said.

He expressed worry over what he called the lack of emergency help in Ogun State. “Nobody, nobody in Ogun State to come and rescue them.”

Afod shared that their repeated attempts to make emergency calls had not received a response. He also noted that other drivers were not stopping to help the victims.

“Until now we’ve been trying to call, we’ve been trying to make emergency calls. Nobody, nobody is trying to help them at all,” he said.

He questioned the situation at the scene, stating, “Look at them, look at the bus, look at people lying down. Nobody is even stopping to carry them, nobody at all. What is happening in this state right now? What is happening?”

Afod urged the public to assist the victims, stressing that emergency help was needed urgently.

“We are stuck, this is right now and this accident is terrible, it is terrible. Ogun State, no ambulance to come and rescue people. People should please come to their aid right now, right now,” he said.

In his Instagram caption, Afod called the situation an emergency and asked rescue teams to help the accident victims at Shapade.

“We urgently need the RESCUE TEAM to come to the aid of accident victims at Shapade, along the Ibadan, Shagamu Expressway, Ogun State,” he wrote.

He also urged the Ogun State Government, the FRSC, emergency response teams, and other authorities to act quickly for the victims' rescue.

“Lives may be at risk. Every second counts!” the actor wrote, asking the public to share the appeal until the relevant authorities responded.
