Imasuagbon Remembers Orbih as a Brave and Kind Politician

A key member of the African Democratic Congress and a former candidate for Edo State governor, Kenneth Imasuagbon, has called the late Dan Orbih a brave, caring, and loyal politician. He said Orbih's death has created a big gap in Edo State’s political scene.

In a statement on Sunday, Imasuagbon expressed shock and sadness at the news of Orbih’s passing. He remembered Orbih not just as a skilled politician but as a generous man whose kindness touched many lives, especially during tough times.

Imasuagbon shared that one of Orbih’s greatest acts of kindness was when Orbih supported him after his accident while he was getting treatment in a London hospital.

He also talked about how he and Orbih led the opposition together during former Governor Adams Oshiomhole's time. He described Orbih's home in Benin as a gathering place for party members and democracy supporters.

Imasuagbon said, "Orbih was a caring and loyal politician whose death has left a big gap in Edo State’s political scene.

“When I had an accident, Orbih was one of those who sent money to me while I was in the hospital in London. He, along with the late Chief Tony Anenih and Senator Clifford Ordia, stood by me during that hard time. I will never forget that kindness. Some of us can only repay such kindness today through prayers and remembering him.

“Orbih was a man of great courage. During the political fight, his house became our meeting point. He always stood up for democracy and supported those he believed in,” he said.

He noted that Orbih had a unique personality and inspired supporters during campaigns, adding that the late PDP leader brought joy and entertainment into politics.

Imasuagbon stated that Orbih was a dedicated party member who loved the people of Edo and worked hard for democracy.

“Under his leadership, we campaigned in all 192 wards. He was kind, loyal to his party, and deeply committed to the people of Edo State,” he said.

“Orbih was a fair and just politician. During the 2022 national delegate contest in Esan South-East Local Government Area, where I defeated Giwa Agbomerere, Orbih faced a lot of pressure to remove my name because I would vote for Atiku Abubakar instead of Wike, even under threat.

“He stood his ground and kept my name on the list. I won the contest fairly, and he said his conscience would not let him take my name off the delegate list,” he added.

Imasuagbon offered deep condolences to Orbih’s family, praying that God would give them strength to cope with the huge loss.

Remember that the Orbih family announced the death of the well-known Edo politician on September 1. In a statement from his younger brother, Francis, it was revealed that Orbih passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026.
