Klopp may quit as Germany coach if family privacy is not respected

Jurgen Klopp has said he might leave his job as the head coach of Germany if the media does not respect his family’s privacy.

He made these comments during his first press conference after taking the role on a four-year deal. Klopp replaced Julian Nagelsmann after Germany's disappointing exit from the World Cup.

Klopp loves the job but is clear he will walk away if the media bothers his family. He said, “If you behave badly and don’t leave my family in peace then I’ll be gone, I’ll just turn away. I love this job but I am always ready to call it quits if need be.”

The 59-year-old is back in management for the first time since leaving Liverpool in 2024. He stepped down after feeling he had “run out of energy” following a successful nine-year run at Anfield.

Klopp believes taking charge of Germany is the biggest challenge in his coaching career. He said, “Jurgen Klopp is not going to have any ‘career’ after the national team. This is the pinnacle, the absolutely high point of my footballing career as coach. I will give everything I have got.”

He is set to lead the national team through the 2030 World Cup. His first match will be against the Netherlands in a Nations League game on 24 September.

Klopp’s new role has created a lot of excitement in Germany. But he needs to rebuild confidence in a national team that has not done well in recent major tournaments.
