The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Adekimi Ojo, has warned all officers against bad behavior, indiscipline, and other unprofessional actions.

Ojo said the time of impunity in the Nigeria Police Force is over.

He gave this warning during a meeting on Monday with senior police officers, including Deputy Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and others across the state.

A statement from the Command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the meeting aimed to reinforce the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu’s, directives on discipline and professionalism in the Force.

The commissioner made it clear that the Nigeria Police Force will not accept any misconduct or abuse of power from its personnel.

He said, “The era of impunity is over, and every officer must conduct himself or herself in a manner that upholds the integrity, discipline, and professionalism expected of members of the Force.”

Ojo urged officers to be careful with their actions and words while on duty. He pointed out that with the rise of digital technology and social media, police officers are now under more public scrutiny.

He warned that officers could easily be recorded during actions that might harm the Force's image, and such behavior would lead to serious consequences.

“Any officer caught engaging in misconduct, incivility, abuse of authority, extortion, harassment, or any behavior that can bring the Force into disrepute will face strict disciplinary actions according to police regulations,” he stated.

Ojo also talked about the Force’s Social Media Policy. He reminded officers that careless online behavior and sharing official information without permission could compromise security and hurt the police's reputation.

“Careless online conduct, unauthorized sharing of official information, and actions that could undermine operational security or the image of the Force will attract appropriate sanctions,” he warned.

To improve community policing and public safety in the state, the commissioner told all Divisional Police Officers to strengthen their relationships with religious leaders, school owners, principals, and other important people in their areas.

He highlighted the need for continued teamwork between communities and the police to protect places of worship, schools, and other vulnerable public spaces from security threats.

“The command is committed to building partnerships with key stakeholders to enhance security and protect lives and property across Kwara State,” he said.

The commissioner assured the public that the police would keep providing effective service while enforcing discipline among its officers.

He added that the command is determined to uphold high standards of policing and maintain public trust in law enforcement in the state.

In recent years, the Nigeria Police Force has worked harder to boost professionalism, accountability, and public trust through internal disciplinary actions, community policing programs, and stricter enforcement of ethical standards.

The Force has repeatedly warned officers against misconduct, extortion, abuse of authority, and misuse of social media, stating that those found guilty will face sanctions according to police rules.
