The Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria is looking for a medical partner with the National Hospital Abuja. This is ahead of the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy in Abuja.
Lami Ahmed, the president of LGAN and chairperson of the tournament’s Local Organising Committee, made the request during a hospital visit on Wednesday.
Nigeria will host the All Africa Challenge Trophy from November 2 to 7 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja. About 30 African countries are expected to join the event.
After this, the Nigeria Ladies Open Championship will take place from November 7 to 10.
Ahmed explained that the tournaments need strong medical support because many players, officials, and other participants will be in Abuja.
"We are requesting the National Hospital Abuja to serve as a principal medical partner for both championships," she said.
The LGAN president asked for an ambulance, trained medical staff, emergency supplies, and a plan for evacuation and referral during the tournaments.
She also wanted quick medical attention for anyone needing extra help, and support for the competition’s medical and safety committee.
The management of National Hospital Abuja welcomed the request. They said they are ready to look into the proposal and work with the organisers on emergency-response plans.
The All Africa Challenge Trophy is one of Africa’s biggest women’s amateur golf competitions. It will bring players from various countries to Nigeria.
This tournament gives Nigeria a chance to host top amateur golfers from around the continent. It also shows the country’s ability to hold international golf events.
The organisers will keep preparing for the championships in November.
