After scoring two goals and providing two assists in his last three games for Nigeria, Terem Moffi wants to keep his good form going. The Super Eagles will face Portugal in a friendly match next Wednesday. This was reported by PUNCH Sports Extra.
Moffi scored for Nigeria in their 2-2 draw against Poland on Wednesday evening. He finished a good team move after Moses Simon set him up, giving the Super Eagles an early lead.
With star striker Victor Osimhen absent, Moffi has been given the chance to lead the attack in Nigeria’s last three matches.
He started as captain during the Unity Cup in London. There, he assisted Femi Azeez, who scored twice in the 2-0 win over Zimbabwe. Moffi also found the net in the final against Jamaica.
The 27-year-old has six goals in 22 appearances for Nigeria. He hopes to add to his tally when the Super Eagles take on Portugal next week at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria.
"When I play football, I try to score as many goals as possible. Against Portugal it will be difficult, but I will try to do my job as well," Moffi told UbuntuPitch.
"I am proud of myself and I am really happy for myself and the team as well. We played really well but we didn’t get the victory. There are lots of positives to take home."
As he continues to impress coach Eric Chelle with the national team, Moffi is also looking to sort out his club situation when the international window closes.
The 27-year-old is at a turning point in his club career. Porto is not willing to pay €8m to make his loan move from OGC Nice permanent.
He joined Porto on loan from Nice amid uncertainty about his future at the Ligue 1 club. Now, he is expected to return to France as the Portuguese side has declined to sign him permanently.
Reports say that ES Troyes AC and FK Partizan are among the clubs looking to sign the Super Eagles forward.
