Veteran Nollywood actor Olayinka Quadri has been named a Special Marshal of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). This move aims to boost traffic compliance and get more people involved in road safety efforts.
The induction ceremony took place at LASTMA’s headquarters in Oshodi, Lagos. The agency’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, decorated Quadri and handed him the official Special Marshal kit.
The Special Marshal initiative aims to involve key members of society. This includes public figures, community leaders, and others who can help LASTMA raise awareness about traffic rules and safe road use.
Those chosen for this role are expected to use their influence to encourage drivers and residents to behave more safely and orderly on Lagos roads.
With his long career in the Nigerian entertainment scene, Mr Quadri is likely to support road safety campaigns. He will promote adherence to traffic laws among Lagos residents.
The induction happens as LASTMA is widening its approach to traffic management in Lagos. The city is known for its heavy traffic and rising transportation needs.
Under Mr Bakare-Oki’s leadership, LASTMA is focusing on programs that involve citizens and community members in managing traffic issues.
The Special Marshal and Special Traffic Mayor programs are part of this effort. They create a chance for respected figures to act as ambassadors for good traffic behavior and civic duty.
LASTMA believes that managing traffic well needs cooperation between law enforcement and the public. This is especially true in a busy city like Lagos.
