Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi may leave Besiktas this summer after just one season in Turkey. This is according to reports from PUNCH Sports Extra.
Ndidi joined the Turkish team from Leicester City last summer for €8m. However, talks about his future started during the January transfer window when he was said to be thinking about going back to England.
Besiktas had a rough season and decided to part ways with coach Sergen Yalçın. They have now hired Vincenzo Italiano as the new coach.
As Ndidi's future becomes more uncertain, reports say he might not fit into the new manager's plans. The club is looking to replace him with a new defensive midfielder this summer.
According to Ajanshaber, it seems likely Ndidi will leave, with a move to the Saudi Pro League being the most expected option for the Nigerian player.
Though the 29-year-old has two years left on his contract, there has not been serious interest from European clubs.
Ndidi was previously linked with Manchester United, but that move has not happened. It now looks less likely, especially after the club's recent signings and focus on other players.
Amid this uncertainty, Besiktas is reportedly ready to sell Ndidi for more than €10m.
A report from Kartal Record states that the Turkish club wants to sell him and aim to make a profit from the €8m they spent to get him from Leicester City last summer.
Ndidi had a good first season in Turkey, but the club's poor performance and the change in management have raised questions about his future.
With the summer transfer window approaching, clubs from Saudi Arabia are watching the situation closely. They want to strengthen their teams with experienced international players.
