Super Eagles forward, Paul Onuachu, has confirmed he will stay at Trabzonspor. This puts an end to months of transfer rumors. There was interest from Turkish teams, Saudi Arabian clubs, and teams in Germany, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Onuachu made this decision after an impressive season. He scored 22 goals in 30 Süper Lig matches, finishing as a joint-top scorer. He also helped Trabzonspor win the Turkish Cup. This performance caught the attention of big clubs in Türkiye and abroad.

Fenerbahçe reportedly made an offer of €20m plus forward Oğuz Aydın. Galatasaray, where fellow Nigerian Victor Osimhen plays, also expressed interest. Beşiktaş showed some interest too. Saudi Pro League clubs, Al-Ahli and Al Hilal, prepared big offers. Trabzonspor reported Al-Ahli to FIFA for an alleged approach made without permission. Clubs like Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg, and Werder Bremen were also watching Onuachu’s situation from Germany.

Despite all this interest, Onuachu said he was committed to Trabzonspor. He stated, "There was interest from various sources. There were clubs from Türkiye that wanted me. There were very serious offers. However, my heart did not want to go anywhere other than Trabzon. The city, the fans and the atmosphere here give me a different feeling and courage."

Onuachu, who returned to Trabzonspor after leaving Southampton, mentioned that he worked hard to make that move happen. He insisted that Trabzonspor was his only choice. He said, "From the moment I arrived, this city gave me the feeling that this is where I belong. I worked very hard to rejoin, but in the end, the clubs are the decision-makers."

He added, "If I left Southampton, it would either be Trabzonspor or nowhere at all. I always maintained this desire. I had a different connection with this place."

Trabzonspor holds a strong position in negotiations. Onuachu is under contract until 2028. The club values him between €25m and €30m. They have already turned down offers ranging from €11m to €20m.

Last season, the 32-year-old scored 28 goals and provided two assists in 43 appearances for club and country. He also won the Süper Lig Golden Boot and lifted the Turkish Cup, scoring four goals in six matches.

He represented Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. He scored once in five appearances as the Super Eagles secured a bronze medal.
