Onuachu Staying Put at Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has put an end to talks about Paul Onuachu’s future. He said the Super Eagles striker will not be leaving the Turkish club this summer.

This statement comes as reports linked Onuachu to a move to Saudi Arabia. There are also rumors about Trabzonspor wanting to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison.

Onuachu, 32, caught attention after a great 2025/26 season. He scored 26 goals in all competitions, including 22 in the Turkish Super Lig. This performance earned him a share of the league’s Golden Boot with Eldor Shomurodov of Istanbul Basaksehir.

Despite his fantastic season, rumors about him leaving continued through the summer. Speculation grew even more when the major European transfer window closed, while the Saudi Pro League and Turkish Super Lig windows were still open.

But Dogan confirmed the club has no plans to sell Onuachu. "Paul Onuachu’s departure is not on the agenda. The top scorer of this league, there is no such situation," Dogan told Fotomac.

While it seems his future is secure, Onuachu has not found his best form this season. He has not scored or assisted in his first five matches in all competitions. This is a big change from how he finished last season, where he scored twice in Trabzonspor’s 2-1 victory over Konyaspor in the Turkish Cup final.

Trabzonspor is also looking to sign Richarlison, who is out of favor at Tottenham. Reports suggest this interest is backed by the club’s big summer signings, Mohamed Salah and Fabinho.

Onuachu will be eager to break his goal drought when Trabzonspor takes on Genclerbirligi in the Super Lig on Sunday.
