Nigeria faced another loss at the 2026 CAVB Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship in Tunis. They lost 3-1 to Rwanda in their classification match on Wednesday.
Rwanda won the match with scores of 25-23, 25-20, 18-25, and 25-19. This victory helped them move up in the classification rankings.
The first set was close, but Rwanda took it 25-23. They then extended their lead by winning the second set 25-20.
Nigeria fought back in the third set. They played better and won 25-18, cutting down Rwanda's lead.
But Rwanda regained their form in the fourth set and finished the match 25-19. This gave them a 3-1 win overall.
This defeat means Nigeria will continue in the classification phase as the championship reaches its final stages.
Rwanda’s win keeps their chances of finishing higher alive. Nigeria will need to regroup for their next classification match.
The championship includes some of Africa’s top volleyball teams. It gives Nigeria a chance to see how they measure up against other countries.
Nigeria aimed to improve their standing in Tunis after missing out on medals. But the loss on Wednesday leaves them with more work to do in the classification.
The Nigerian team will be looking to finish their campaign positively in the upcoming classification matches.
