Nigeria wins against Zambia with Oshoala's goal

Nigeria beat Zambia 1-0 on Saturday in Rabat. This win opened up Group C at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The Super Falcons had to play with 10 players after 40 minutes. Blessing Demehin got a red card for fouling Zambia's top striker Barbra Banda at the Al Medina Stadium.

Malawi leads the group with six points from two matches. Nigeria and Zambia have three points each, while Egypt has none. The last matches in this mini-league will happen in the Moroccan capital on Wednesday.

Nigeria, the defending champions, are going for their 11th WAFCON title. They will play Egypt next, while Malawi and Zambia will face each other in another southern Africa clash.

Asisat Oshoala, who has won the African Footballer of the Year award six times, scored the only goal of the match. She found the net just eight minutes into the game.

Oshoala raced past two defenders. When goalkeeper Hazel Nali blocked her shot, the ball hit Oshoala's right leg and rolled into the net.
