Obi-Kwankwaso Movement Launches 59-Member Campaign Team

The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement on Thursday introduced a 59-member presidential campaign team. This team has zonal and state coordinators and directors for mobilization, women's affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs, and other important areas ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement on Thursday, the movement named John Ughulu as the Director-General of the campaign. Saadatu Sani, who is the National Secretary, is also part of the campaign leadership.

The team represents all six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory. State coordinators have been appointed for all 36 states.

The campaign council includes directors for grassroots mobilization, women's affairs, contact and engagement, special duties, procurement, information technology, legal affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, and administration.

This development happens as the movement ramps up efforts to gather support for the joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi from the Nigeria Democratic Congress and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 election.

In a message to the new council members, Sani said their selection is a call to serve and urged them to take their principals' message to communities across Nigeria.

She stated, "Your selection is not merely an appointment; it is a call to duty, sacrifice, leadership and service to Nigeria. At this critical moment in our nation’s history, the responsibility before the presidential campaign council is enormous."

Sani continued, "You have been entrusted with the task of taking the vision, message and aspirations of our principals directly to the Nigerian people from the cities to the grassroots, from the states to the local governments, and from the wards to every community across the federation."

She added, "Your appointment is an honour, but more importantly, it is a responsibility. The journey has begun. The assignment is clear. The mission is Nigeria."

She emphasized that the Obi and Kwankwaso campaign is not about individuals seeking fame, but about a broader national vision.

Sani said, "The OK Movement is not built around individuals seeking personal recognition. It is a movement driven by a larger national vision: to mobilize Nigerians around the possibility of a better, more prosperous, united and functional Nigeria."

She expects all members of the campaign council to approach their work with discipline, loyalty, humility, courage and a strong commitment to the movement's collective vision.

Sani said, "The road ahead will require hard work. It will require strategic thinking, grassroots mobilization, effective communication and, above all, the ability to work together as one formidable political family."

She noted that their main job is to make sure the message of their leaders reaches voters everywhere.

Sani added, "Our responsibility is to ensure that the message of our principals reaches every Nigerian and that the voice of the people is heard across the length and breadth of our nation."

Among those appointed are Suleiman Abubakar as North-Central coordinator, Hashimu Dungurawa for North-West, Amadu Gwambe for North-East, Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for South-South, and El-Shaddai Ikeh for South-East.

The council also named state coordinators for each of the 36 states and the FCT.

Others appointed include Rev Mike Agbon as Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria, Sabo Gashua for Grassroots Mobilisation, Glory Adayi for Women Affairs, Kabir Yahaya for Contact and Engagement, Abdumumini Tijjani for Mobilisation, Yusuf Mani for Special Duties, Peace Daful for Procurement, Prof Charles Nwekeaku for South Eastern Town Hall, and Sunmisola Adebayo for Information Technology.

Kingdom Okere was appointed Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri for Strategy and Planning, Richard Enemona CSP (retd.) for Security and Intelligence, and Aisha Abdulrahaman was named Director of Administration.

Last month, the group confirmed it would keep its independent structure and not merge with another political group before the 2027 elections, while supporting Ughulu as its founder and Director-General.

This unveiling comes just days after the movement criticized the reported disruption of Obi’s convoy during his visit to Benue State. They called for an impartial investigation into the incident.

The OK Movement stated its security personnel acted with restraint to avoid escalating the situation into violence.
