Okocha says he won't bite Portable, prefers chewing grass

Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has denied claims that he bit singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, during their celebrity boxing match. Okocha said he would rather chew grass than bite his opponent, according to PUNCH Sports Extra. Okocha shared his side at AY and Akpororo’s comedy night. He called Portable’s claim false and insisted he never bit him on the back or locked his neck during the fight called “Unfinished Business.” This match took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Okocha explained that he wore a mouth guard during the fight, making it impossible for him to bite Portable. He said, “Portable has been going around telling people I bit him on the back. I was wearing a mouth guard; how is that even possible? He was just lying.” He added, “I would rather chew grass than bite him. I do not want to catch rabies. Have you seen how Portable’s skin looks? Hell no, I would not do that. He should just accept defeat.”

Fight Breakdown

Okocha repeated his defense during a chat on TVC Entertainment. The match turned into a wrestling match, which the referee struggled to control. Security had to step in to break things up. Portable eventually walked out of the ring before the fight ended properly, which earned him boos from the crowd. He was later brought back and disqualified, giving Okocha the win.

After the disqualification, Portable released a diss track targeting the fight's officiating and the chaotic end. In the track, he mocked the referee for looking away during the fight, accused Okocha of trying to choke and bite him, and said he would settle scores through local wrestling if needed.

This was not the first time Portable faced defeat in the ring. He had earlier lost to Carter Efe by unanimous decision on May 1 at the same venue, and that bout was shown on DAZN. After that loss, Portable revealed he was paid ₦50m for lasting one round. He claimed the organizers had promised ₦100m if he completed two rounds.
