Victor Osimhen scored for Galatasaray less than a day after becoming a father again. He dedicated the goal to his newborn daughter, Liora, during a 4-0 Super Lig win against Konyaspor on Friday, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Osimhen and his partner, Stefanie Kim Ladewig, welcomed their second child, Liora Audrey, on Thursday. Galatasaray shared the happy news on their official social media. Fans and media in Nigeria and Turkey congratulated the couple.
“Our Football A Team player Victor Osimhen and Stefanie have welcomed a baby girl into the world,” Galatasaray said in a statement.
“We congratulate the couple Victor and Stefanie; we wish their newborn baby Liora Audrey a long, healthy, and happy life!”
The couple already has a daughter, Hailey True, born in 2020.
Osimhen stayed in Istanbul for the birth. He did not travel to Konya with the team on Thursday. He flew on a private plane to join his teammates on match day, and Turkish media captured him getting into a vehicle before the trip.
The 27-year-old has scored four goals in his last three matches for the club. He netted one against Lille in Europe, two in the derby win over Fenerbahce, and another against Konyaspor.
Now, he has nine league goals and three assists in eight league games. His recent performance has made him the main attacking threat for coach Okan Buruk’s team, who are at the top of the Super Lig.
The match took place at the Konya Buyuksehir Belediye Stadium. It was also seen as a face-off between two Super Eagles players, as Konyaspor defender Chidozie Awaziem played against Osimhen.
Konyaspor had been a tough opponent for Galatasaray, having beaten them 2-0 earlier this year. Still, Galatasaray has won 22 of their 33 all-time meetings.
