The Edo State Police Command has arrested Uzebor Emmanuel, known as "Aza Woman" on social media. She was arrested for spreading false information that students of Green Park Academy, Aduwawa, Benin City, were kidnapped. This claim was found to be false as the police had already denied it last Wednesday.

The police expressed that this viral social media post caused unnecessary panic among the public. In a statement on Sunday, the State Command’s spokesperson, SP Eno Ikoedem, said spreading false information about public safety is a serious crime that can have serious consequences.

The statement said, “Following the earlier press release by the Edo State Police Command about the false claim of students being kidnapped at Green Park Academy, Aduwawa, and Western Boys’ College, Ikpoba Hill, Benin City, we want to inform the public that Uzebor Emmanuel (f), known as 'Aza Woman,' has been arrested for these viral posts.

“Initial investigations show that the suspect knowingly shared false claims on social media. She alleged that about six people were kidnapped through various mini transport buses. She claimed some escaped their captors, while others had to pay ransom.

“These posts caused public fear, increased anxiety, and could weaken trust in the state’s security system. The Edo State Police Command says spreading false information, especially about public safety, is a serious crime with serious consequences. Such actions can create panic, disturb public order, and waste security resources on real emergencies.”

Ikoedem warned that the safety of the state should never be put at risk for social media likes, shares, or attention. He said the suspect will face court charges after investigations are complete.

The command urged the public to be careful and check facts from reliable sources before sharing. They advised against using social media to spread lies that could disrupt public peace.
