The police in Cross River State have arrested six people in different operations for robbery and burglary. This includes four people linked to the theft of items worth about N49.15 million from a tech company in Calabar.
The arrests were carried out by the Violence Crime Response Unit. This was shared in a statement on Facebook on Wednesday by the police spokesperson in the state, Sunday Eitokpah.
Four arrested over alleged N49m robbery
The police said they arrested four suspects connected to the burglary that happened on 3 June at Royaline Technologies on Etta-Agbor Road, Calabar.
Mr Eitokpah named the suspects as Hassan Ahmad, 38; Jabiru Ibrahim, 35; Usman Isa Garuba, 22; and Abdullalim Hassan, 23.
The statement mentioned that Mr Ibrahim was tracked down to Kano State and arrested on 2 September. He was brought back to Calabar the next day.
The police said their investigations show that these suspects were part of a six-man gang. They allegedly stole 62 mobile phones, accessories, speakers, earphones, and N529,000 cash.
“The total value of the stolen items was estimated at N49,150,715,” the police said.
The police are still looking to catch the other two suspects and recover the stolen goods.
