The Jigawa State Police have arrested three people linked to armed robbery, motorcycle theft, and cattle rustling. They recovered N1.93 million, a Sharon vehicle, two motorcycles, and a cow in different operations across the state.
This information came from a statement shared with reporters in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State, on Saturday. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, provided the details.
SP Adam said these successes came after consistent intelligence-led policing, active patrols, and working with the community.
He mentioned, “Officers from Birniwa Division arrested a 40-year-old suspected armed robber, Amadu Garba from Isari settlement camp in Birniwa LGA.”
According to the PPRO, “Police operatives from Birniwa Division, acting on reliable information and thorough investigation, arrested Amadu Garba and recovered One Million, Nine Hundred and Thirty Thousand Naira.”
He added that the suspect was being investigated for a robbery that happened on September 11, 2026, around 2:00 AM at the Garin Sule-Maskan Dare Market in Machina LGA of Yobe State.
The police spokesman said that over N30 million was stolen from unsuspecting traders during that robbery.
He explained, “The arrest and recovery followed detailed investigation and intelligence gathering by the police, which led to the identification and capture of the suspect within Birniwa LGA.”
Adam noted that the suspect and the recovered items would be handed over to the Yobe State Police for further investigation and prosecution.
In another operation, the PPRO said officers from Yalwawa Division in Dutse arrested a suspected motorcycle thief and recovered one stolen motorcycle.
He said, “The arrest happened on September 11, 2026, around 6:20 AM after two motorcycles were reported stolen from a home near the Mechanic Village area in Dutse.”
Adam added, “After receiving the report, operatives started a quiet investigation and used intelligence to trace the suspect, leading to the recovery of one of the stolen motorcycles.”
“The suspect is currently in police custody and is helping investigators to find the second motorcycle,” the PPRO added.
Similarly, Adam shared that officers from Aujara Division, with help from a Good Samaritan, arrested a suspected motorcycle snatcher and recovered a motorcycle.
He identified the suspect as Ado Sale, 55, from Kawari village in Ajingi LGA, Kano State, arrested on September 11 at about 12:40 PM.
The PPRO explained, “The victim, an Okada rider, had taken an unknown passenger from Jahun to Aujara town.”
He said the passenger gave the rider a bag of clothes and took the motorcycle under the excuse of picking up his sister.
Adam noted that the rider reported to the police when the suspect did not return as promised.
He added that due to quick police action and the help of a Good Samaritan, the suspect was caught and the motorcycle was recovered.
On cattle rustling, the PPRO mentioned that officers from Maigatari Division stopped a blue Sharon vehicle with the registration number SA 535 TRN carrying one cow.
He said this interception occurred on September 10, 2026, around 11:00 PM, and the two people inside the vehicle ran away into a nearby bush.
“The police secured the abandoned blue Sharon vehicle and one cow, which are now in custody as evidence,” SP Adam said.
The Jigawa police spokesman said efforts are ongoing to find the fleeing suspects and to confirm the rightful owner of the recovered cow and vehicle. He added, “The suspects will face court charges once investigations are complete.”
He quoted the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, as praising the officers for their alertness and professionalism.
The CP, according to the PPRO, promised that the command will keep fighting crime through intelligence-led methods and community policing.
