Barcelona midfielder Rodri will not play in Sunday’s La Liga match against Atletico Madrid because of a hamstring injury.
Rodri came off the pitch at half-time during Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Barcelona said in a statement on Wednesday, “Tests have confirmed a minor injury to his right hamstring.”
The statement added, “He will miss next Sunday’s match against Atletico Madrid. His exact recovery time will depend on how the injury develops.”
Barcelona, who are leading La Liga, will face second-placed Atletico, which is Rodri’s former team. They want to keep their top position.
Reports from Spain suggest Rodri might be out for up to a month. This means he could miss Spain’s Nations League matches against the Czech Republic and England.
Spain, the reigning World Cup champions, have already qualified for the Nations League quarter-finals.
