Bruno Guimaraes opened the scoring in the 55th minute with a brilliant goal after David Raya had saved Enzo Le Fee’s penalty.
Saka then secured Arsenal’s fourth win in four matches with a penalty in stoppage time. This came after Sunderland’s Reinildo was sent off for bringing down Saka in the box.
This win keeps Mikel Arteta’s team at the top of the table with 12 points.
