Former Liverpool star Mohamed Salah got a warm reception from many fans in Turkey. He arrived in Istanbul, getting ready for his move to Trabzonspor.
On Wednesday, BBC Sport reported that the Egypt captain met excited supporters at Atatürk Airport. He wore Trabzonspor colors and waved to the crowd that gathered to welcome him.
The 34-year-old forward will join Trabzonspor after his time at Liverpool ended last season. He had a fantastic nine years at Anfield, scoring 257 goals and earning a spot as one of Liverpool’s greatest players.
Trabzonspor is expected to announce the signing soon. They have agreed on terms with Salah, who is now a free agent. Since there is no transfer fee, the club can use more of their money to pay Salah’s wages.
Salah’s signing would be a big move for Trabzonspor. Last season, they finished third in the Turkish league and earned a chance to play in Europe. The club will try to secure a spot in the Europa League group stage through qualifying rounds. If they do not succeed, they may move to the Conference League.
While at Liverpool, Salah became the club’s highest-paid player. He signed a deal reportedly worth £400,000 a week in 2025. He also scored 50 goals in the Champions League, proving he is among Europe’s top forwards.
Trabzonspor fans are now looking forward to the official news about this deal, which would bring one of football’s biggest stars to Turkish football.
