Mohamed Salah is in talks to join Trabzonspor. The club announced he is expected to reach Turkey on Wednesday for discussions. The Black Sea club shared this news on Tuesday.
Salah left Liverpool after a successful nine-year run at Anfield. During his time there, he won the Champions League and two Premier League titles.
"Mohamed Salah, with whom we have begun transfer negotiations, will be at Istanbul Ataturk Airport… at 12:00 on Wednesday, August 5," Trabzonspor said in a statement.
"The player is scheduled to arrive in Trabzon on the same day in the evening hours."
Salah scored 257 goals for Liverpool in 442 games across all competitions. This makes him the third top goalscorer in Liverpool's history.
He has also netted 193 goals in the Premier League, with 191 of those for Liverpool. This puts him fourth in the all-time scoring list behind Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, and Wayne Rooney.
Last season, the 34-year-old Salah did not perform at his best in a struggling Liverpool team. He only managed to score seven times in the league.
Salah last played in the World Cup, where he helped Egypt reach the last 16 for the first time since 1934. Unfortunately, they lost to Argentina after blowing a two-goal lead.
There were also rumors linking Salah to Trabzonspor’s Super Lig rivals Besiktas.
Trabzonspor finished third in the Turkish league last season, nine points ahead of Besiktas. This performance secured their spot in the Europa League play-off round.
Salah has scored 66 goals in 119 international matches for Egypt. He is considered one of the most successful African players in football history.
