Six-Year-Old Boy Missing After Flood Found Dead

One of the pupils trapped by flood in Anambra State has been found dead.

Chinedu Okafor, the Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, shared the news in a statement on Wednesday.

The six-year-old boy, Success Ezenwafor, was the only one missing after police rescued nine others during the flood on Tuesday. This happened along Nibo-Isiagu Road in Awka, the capital of the state.

PREMIUM TIMES reported earlier that the police in Anambra State were still searching for the missing boy after the initial rescue.

Mr Okafor, who took part in the rescue operation, said he was very sad about the loss. He also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased child.

He prayed for God to give the family strength to cope with the painful loss. "I urge all residents to exercise extreme caution whenever there is heavy rainfall," he said.

The chairman confirmed that the other eight children and two adults rescued from the flood are getting medical care and responding well to treatment.

"Please avoid flood-prone areas and do not take unnecessary risks with your lives or the lives of your loved ones. No journey is worth the loss of a human life," he added.

PREMIUM TIMES learned that the boy, who attended UNIZIK Primary School, was buried the same Wednesday in his hometown of Ekwulobia, Agata Local Government Area in the state.
