Soldiers have arrested three suspects after a 17-year-old boy named Peter Gyang was killed in Kafi-Abu village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The arrests happened during a military operation on Saturday. Troops acted on intelligence about the killing and went to a settlement thought to be used by the attackers.

Mr Gyang was reportedly killed by unknown assailants during a targeted attack in Kafi-Abu, according to the military.

After the incident, troops from Sector 4 and Sub-Sector 41 raided Kedawa. This settlement was identified as a possible route for the attackers to reach Kafi-Abu and escape after the murder.

During the operation, three men were arrested. The military named them as Yakubu Jaoji, 69; Mukadas Abubakar, 28; and Muhammad Hassan, 56.

The suspects are now in custody for profiling and further investigation. This is to find out if they had any link to Mr Gyang’s murder.

The military did not confirm that the suspects were the ones who carried out the killing, as investigations are still ongoing.

This operation is part of a larger effort by security forces to track down those responsible for attacks in the Barkin Ladi area. They are working to disrupt routes that attackers may use to reach vulnerable communities and escape after committing crimes.

Troops are still active in the area while investigations and security operations continue.
