Spotify has teamed up with Afro Nation Portugal as the official streaming partner for its 2026 edition. This partnership gives fans access to festival content before, during, and after the event.

Afro Nation is a yearly three-day music festival organized by The Malachite Group (TMG). It started in 2019 to bring the African diaspora together for a celebration of dance, food, fashion, and music.

On Tuesday, Spotify announced the partnership. They will create a special Afro Nation section on Spotify. This will include the festival’s official playlist, artists participating, selected performance videos, and other exclusive content.

Spotify said the goal of this collaboration is to bring fans closer to the music, performances, and culture that make Afro Nation one of the biggest festivals celebrating African music.

The festival in 2026 is set to take place from July 3 to 5 in Portimão, Portugal.

Experience the Festival

Spotify mentioned that the Afro Nation hub will help fans discover featured artists. They can listen to official playlists and watch selected performances even after the festival ends.

The company noted that this partnership will allow fans who cannot attend in person to still enjoy some highlights through the streaming platform.

According to Spotify, this collaboration builds on Afro Nation’s mission to promote Afrobeats and African music to audiences worldwide.

What Spotify Says

Rifumo Mdaka, Spotify’s Content Marketing Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, spoke about the partnership. He said Afro Nation is more than just a music festival.

“Afro Nation is more than a festival, it’s a global expression of African music, fan culture, and creative influence.

“By bringing the festival to Spotify, we’re giving fans a place to connect with the artists, performances, and stories that define the festival long after the final performance,” he explained.

Spotify added that this partnership is part of its effort to support African music through artist discovery, playlists, and live performance content.

They also plan to document the journey of a fan traveling to Portugal for the festival as part of the campaign.

Afro Nation’s Response

Clémence Blum, Director of Global Partnerships at The Malachite Group and Afro Nation, shared her thoughts on the partnership. She believes it will deepen fans’ connection with African music.

She said the collaboration fits with Afro Nation’s goal of promoting African music and helping artists reach a bigger audience.

Blum added that this partnership will also extend the festival experience beyond just the live event.

After the festival, selected performances from Afro Nation Portugal 2026 will be available on Spotify, according to the organizers.
