Super Falcons players are expected to start arriving in camp in Ikenne, Ogun State. They are preparing for their pre-WAFCON friendlies against Senegal.

On Sunday, the Nigeria Football Federation announced head coach Justine Madugu's 23-player squad for the matches. This comes after the 10-time African champions missed earlier chances to prepare for the 2026 WAFCON.

Madugu's squad includes captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and veteran forward Asisat Oshoala. Midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene is back in the squad after a three-year break, having played in recent friendlies against Cameroon.

Forwards Francisca Ordega and Gift Monday have also been called up. Belarus-based Blessing Nkor returns to the team after her last game against France in November 2024. Turkey-based midfielder Kafayat Shittu earned another call-up after performing well for Giresun Sanayispor Kulübü.

Another player returning is Rofiat Imuran, a defender with the London City Lionesses. She has not played for the Super Falcons since the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The squad also includes home-based goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi, Israel-based defender Sikiratu Isah, defender Tosin Demehin, midfielders Halimatu Ayinde and Toni Payne, plus forwards Folashade Ijamilusi and Joy Omewa.

Christy Ucheibe, Shukurat Oladipo, and Rinsola Babajide, who won titles with their clubs last season, have also made the squad.

The Super Falcons will host Senegal on Friday, June 5. The second match between both teams is set for Monday, June 8. Both games will happen at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne-Remo.

Senegal will face Morocco, Algeria, and Kenya in Group A of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. This tournament takes place in Morocco from July 25 to August 16. Nigeria, the 10-time champions, will compete against Egypt, Zambia, and debutants Malawi in Group C.

These friendly matches are part of Nigeria’s preparations for the upcoming tournament. Coach Madugu is assessing his squad ahead of the competition.
