Co-hosts for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, Tanzania, are getting ready for their matches against Nigeria. They have announced a 24-man squad for the first game on November 13 in Uyo. The Super Eagles have not released their squad yet.

Tanzania's coach, Miguel Gamondi, picked the squad for the two matches. The second match will be on November 17 in Dar es Salaam.

Most players are from the Tanzania Premier League. Yanga FC and Azam FC each have five players in the squad, which is the highest from any club. Kagera Sugar and Singida Black Stars each have one player.

Tanzania’s foreign players include Novatus Miroshi of Goztepe in Turkey, Cyprian Kachewele of Kryvbas in Ukraine, and Bernard Kamongo of FC Dallas in the United States.

The first match will happen at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Both teams will meet again four days later in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania has had a rough start in Group L. They lost 2-0 to Guinea-Bissau and then drew 1-1 with Madagascar in their first two matches.

Since Tanzania is already qualified for the 2027 tournament as co-hosts, they want to use the qualifying matches to prepare for the main event.

On the other hand, the Super Eagles are still waiting to announce their squad. Head coach Eric Chelle is also managing the U-23 team as they get ready for the Olympic qualifiers in Ikenne.

Nigeria has three points from their first two games. They won 2-1 against Madagascar in Uyo but then lost 3-0 to Guinea-Bissau in Bissau.

With Tanzania already qualified, only one spot is up for grabs in Group L. Nigeria is currently in second place behind Guinea-Bissau.

The Super Eagles need to win both matches to keep their qualification hopes alive and control their own fate. With Gamondi announcing his squad, Tanzania looks ready to make the most of their remaining qualifying matches, even though they are already set for the 2027 tournament.
