American actress and singer Teyana Taylor and the hip-hop group Clipse were the big winners at the 2026 BET Awards. They both took home three awards each at the ceremony held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The event was hosted by comedian Druski and was broadcast live on BET. Kendrick Lamar and Kehlani also did well, each winning two awards, according to a post on Billboard.
Teyana Taylor had an amazing year. She won Best Actress, Video Director of the Year, and the new Fashion Vanguard Award. She also received the Icon of the Year award, which is one of three honorary recognitions given during the ceremony.
Clipse did great in the music categories. They won Album of the Year for Let God Sort ‘Em Out, Best Group, and Best Collaboration for their song “Chains & Whips,” which features Kendrick Lamar.
Kendrick Lamar added to his impressive BET Awards record by winning Best Male Hip Hop Artist for the ninth time. This win further extends his lead as the most decorated artist in that category.
Kehlani won her first Best Female R&B/Pop Artist award. This ended SZA’s three-year run in the category. Kehlani also took home Video of the Year for her hit song “Folded.”
British singer Olivia Dean, who won Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards, did it again at the BET Awards. She became only the fifth artist to win this award at both ceremonies.
Cardi B won the Best Female Hip Hop Artist award. This is her third win in this category and her first since winning back-to-back awards in 2018 and 2019.
Leon Thomas won Best Male R&B/Pop Artist for the first time. He beat former winners Chris Brown, Usher, and Bruno Mars.
In the film categories, Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, won Best Movie. Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for his performance in the film, marking his fourth win in this category.
Music legend Ms. Lauryn Hill received the first Living Legend Icon Award. Veteran music executive Sylvia Rhone was honored with the Ultimate Icon Award.
Sixteen-year-old journalist Jazlyn Guerra, known as Jazzy’s World TV, won the YoungStars Award for her celebrity interviews and growing influence in entertainment journalism.
