Suspected thugs disrupted a campaign rally for the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, in Warri, Delta State.

Esther Umoh, a photographer linked to Obi, shared the incident on X. She claimed that thugs sponsored by politicians attacked members of the campaign group.

Umoh said the attackers focused on the team of the Delta State governorship candidate and other supporters of the Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements who were campaigning in Warri.

"As of this morning, politically sponsored thugs reportedly opened fire on @MamaPee__, @Drmopaul, @dchrisiyovwaye, the Delta State governorship candidate, members of his entourage, and other Obidient and Kwankwasiyya supporters who were out campaigning in Warri," she wrote.

A video shared with the claims showed a chaotic scene. A voice can be heard saying, "Look at the thŭgs, they came to attack us. We must face them. We are fully ready for them."

This allegation comes as supporters of Obi and Kwankwaso ramp up their political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

Obi and Kwankwaso are currently rallying under the NDC ticket. Their support base includes members of the Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements. Recently, the Obi-Kwankwaso support movement set up a 59-member presidential campaign council, which includes coordinators and directors from all over the country.
