Tinubu and Abba Supporters Rally Students in 25 Kano Schools

The Jagaban-Abba Students’ Mandate 2027 has kicked off a campaign in 25 schools in Kano State. The group asked its newly appointed ambassadors to connect with students and gather support for President Bola Tinubu and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's re-election.

At the launch on Thursday in Abuja, Nafiu Yunusa, the group's leader, urged the ambassadors to spread the campaign in lecture halls, hostels, and other student areas in Kano.

Yunusa explained that the Campus Ambassadors program aims to build a strong student network in all the schools ahead of the 2027 elections.

He tasked the ambassadors with grassroots mobilization, educating voters, and sharing the group's views on the programs and policies of the Tinubu and Abba governments with students.

"We are here today to start a movement that focuses on results, not just talk. The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the forward-thinking leadership of Governor Abba have changed the education sector in our state and country.

"Our campus ambassadors will spread this message of growth to every lecture hall, hostel, and campus in Kano," Yunusa said.

He noted that the group's mobilization would focus on what they call achievements in education by the Federal and Kano State Governments.

One of the Federal Government programs mentioned by the group is the Nigerian Education Loan Fund student loan scheme. NELFUND announced in August 2026 that it had given out over N322 billion through more than 1.6 million student loan applications.

The group also pointed to investments in technical and vocational education, improvements in tertiary infrastructure, research and innovation, and upgrades in Kano's institutions.

They highlighted the change of Federal College of Education, Kano, to Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano, and the planned upgrade of Federal Polytechnic Kabo to a university of technology.

On the state level, Yunusa talked about what he called improvements in education, including increased budgets, free education for primary and secondary students, reduced fees in state-owned tertiary schools, and teacher recruitment.

He mentioned that the administration had also fixed classrooms, provided school furniture, reopened girls’ boarding schools, and offered postgraduate scholarships.

Yunusa encouraged the new ambassadors to use their roles to bring students together and keep their issues in the political spotlight ahead of the 2027 elections.

"The future of our education relies on continuity. We cannot go back to a time when education was ignored.

"The Jagaban-Abba Students’ Mandate 2027 is dedicated to making sure Kano students’ voices are heard and their needs are safeguarded," he said.
