Trabzonspor is now looking at Uzbekistan captain Eldor Shomurodov as a possible replacement for Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu. The Turkish club is preparing for the chance that their star forward might leave this summer, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
A report from Turkish newspaper Taka Gazete says that even though club president Ertuğrul Doğan insists Onuachu is not for sale, even at €20 million, the management at Trabzonspor is quietly searching for other options. Interest in the Nigerian striker is growing, and they want to be ready.
Shomurodov, who plays for İstanbul Başakşehir, has become the top name on Trabzonspor's list.
The 30-year-old forward shared the 2025/26 Süper Lig Golden Boot with Onuachu after both scored 22 goals each that season. This makes him a good choice if there is an opening in the team.
Onuachu has a contract with Trabzonspor until the end of the 2027/28 season. He had one of the best seasons of his career last year and has drawn serious interest from clubs all over Europe.
Even though the club's official stance is firm about keeping Onuachu, the scouting efforts show that Trabzonspor does not want to be caught off guard.
