Troops save 10 kidnapped victims in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara

No less than 10 people who were kidnapped have been rescued by soldiers from the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, shared this news in a statement. The rescues took place in different operations throughout the three states.

Danja also shared the dates of these operations. They were done to keep people safe and protect communities in the North West.

On Wednesday, soldiers on patrol in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State ran into a terrorist ambush. The soldiers responded quickly, forcing the terrorists to flee.

“During the encounter, five civilians were rescued and later reunited with their families,” the Joint Task Force stated. They also found two motorcycles that the fleeing terrorists left behind.

On Tuesday, soldiers carried out a search-and-rescue operation after receiving information about three kidnapped victims in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The three victims were also rescued and handed over to local authorities for proper care.

The statement continued, saying that troops acted on reports of terrorist activities in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Tuesday. The quick response from the soldiers made the terrorists abandon two captives.

The victims had gunshot wounds from their time in captivity and were taken to a hospital for urgent medical care. The statement mentioned that efforts to track down the fleeing terrorists are still ongoing.

The Theatre Command praised the soldiers for their alertness and quick action. They assured residents that they will keep up the pressure on terrorist groups in the area.

“Members of the public are encouraged to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations and enhance the protection of lives and property,” the statement concluded.
