American political commentator Tucker Carlson has raised alarm about a possible US nuclear strike on Iran.
Carlson, in a post on X, said US President Donald Trump is under “maximum pressure” from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to consider this action.
Even though Trump has said before that he does not plan to use nuclear weapons in Iran, Carlson claims that this option is now being looked at.
He mentioned that the potential attack could focus on Pickax Mountain in central Iran. Israeli intelligence believes this location has seen a restart of Iran's nuclear enrichment program.
Carlson has gone from being a friend to a critic of President Trump. He used to be seen as a strong supporter and a key voice in the MAGA group, especially during Trump's campaign to get back into the White House.
After Trump took office again, Carlson backed many of his policies, including strict anti-immigration measures and efforts to change diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in the federal government.
But their relationship began to show cracks over how to deal with Iran in 2025. Last June, Carlson criticized Trump for straying from the “America first” approach he campaigned on, while Trump publicly called Carlson “kooky.” The decision to strike Iran in February and the war that followed caused another major fallout between them.
Now, Carlson has become a key voice on the right opposing US military action in Iran.
In his latest social media update, Carlson quoted an unnamed “informed observer.” He said a nuclear strike is considered because no regular weapons in the US can reach the tunnels where Iran is said to be enriching nuclear material.
“Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. Bibi calls Trump about it every day. Netanyahu is cornered and desperate. After last week’s election results, he can’t form a government unless Trump intervenes directly in Israeli politics and brokers a deal with other parties that gives Netanyahu 61 seats in the Knesset.
“Otherwise, he is out as prime minister and on his way to ignominy, investigations, and possibly jail. Netanyahu must stay close to Trump. He needs this war,” he wrote.
Trump's hesitation
Carlson said that Trump is likely to make a decision on using nuclear weapons by the weekend.
He also pointed out that Trump is reluctant to approve the use of nuclear weapons. This action would break international laws and norms about using nuclear arms.
“Close observers say Trump is likely to decide by next weekend whether or not to use nuclear weapons. That would be November 7, six days from now. To his credit, he’s hesitating.
He added that Trump is listening to Vice President JD Vance and his friend Steve Witkoff, both of whom believe a deal with Iran could be reached, though it would be tough.
According to him, Netanyahu is working closely with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and US CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper.
He said both American officials are against a negotiated peace with Iran.
“Both are pushing to restart major combat operations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA director John Ratcliffe are also following Netanyahu’s lead, as are leaders of the Democratic Party.
“In a recent meeting on the subject, former President Barack Obama said he opposes the current Iran peace deal being drafted in Doha,” he noted.
Carlson also claimed that Russia has suggested that a nuclear strike on Iran could allow it to use nuclear weapons on Ukraine.
“Pakistan and India would be tempted to do the same against each other, as would North Korea against Seoul. After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final,” he added.
