Family entertainment channel, WAPTV, is about to become the first TV station in Nigeria to show the popular Indian romantic drama series, ‘Rajjo’.
This is another big step for the channel as it tries to solidify its place in Nigeria’s busy broadcasting scene. WAPTV aims to provide top-quality content for its viewers.
The management said that getting the broadcast rights is part of their plan to offer family-friendly programs that can draw in and keep audiences on both TV and mobile.
‘Rajjo’ tells the story of an aspiring athlete from Uttarakhand. It shows the struggles she faces while chasing her dreams. The series also looks at her relationship with her mother, Manorama, who has a troubled past that affects her views on Rajjo’s goals.
The family drama will be fully dubbed and subtitled in English for Nigerian viewers.
WAPTV Director, Wale Adenuga Jnr, talked about this new development. He mentioned that the channel worked hard for years to get the broadcast rights to the series.
He said, “After years of painstakingly pursuing the broadcast licence of the hit show, Rajjo, we were delighted when we acquired the rights, as the series is tailor-fitted to our core values at WAPTV, to provide wholesome family-friendly entertainment that will keep our audiences glued to their screens, both TV and mobile.”
This acquisition comes as many broadcasters are looking for interesting local and international content to stay competitive. They want to attract viewers in an entertainment market that is getting busier.
WAPTV added that bringing ‘Rajjo’ into their programming shows their commitment to growing their content while focusing on family-friendly entertainment.
