Wellington College International Lagos has appointed Christine Haslett as its Founding Headmaster. This will take effect on 1 August 2026.
This appointment is a big move as the school prepares to open in September 2027. It brings experienced leadership at a crucial time in the school’s growth.
Christine has a solid background in leading international schools. She has worked in both day and boarding schools in the UK, China, and Indonesia. She played a key role in starting Wellington College Independent School Jakarta. She helped build its academic and organizational foundations. People recognise her for combining clear strategy with a strong focus on pastoral care, community building, and academic standards.
Paul Vanni, the International Director of Wellington College International, said, “Christine brings the experience and judgment needed to lead a school through its founding years. Her commitment to education based on values and purpose makes her well-suited to shape Wellington College International Lagos as it develops its identity and culture.”
Christine Haslett shared her thoughts on her new role. She said, “It is a privilege to take up the role of Founding Headmaster at Wellington College International Lagos. I look forward to working with students, families, and colleagues to establish a school that is ambitious, values-led, and deeply rooted in the Wellington ethos.
My vision is to create a lively learning environment where every child is known, challenged, and inspired to realise their potential. I want them to develop character, confidence, and compassion to serve and shape the world around them. I am excited to help build a school that respects Nigeria’s rich heritage while preparing pupils to thrive confidently in a global future.”
Wellington College International Lagos is located in Alaro City, Lagos. It is part of the global family of Wellington College schools, all sharing a mission to improve education and help shape a better world.
